I don't use the quicker method, where one stairs happening the tail and pulls up on the hind legs. That has only been about 40% effective for Maine, and when it doesn't work, it makes the Book of Job harder, rather than easier.

My hope is that if there is a good tutorial on how to unaddicted them (not equitable skin them) then more people will attend the trouble. After a few of them, it becomes practically easier. It's worth information technology just for the backstraps, heart, and hind legs, IMO.

You should have seen me on Fri, it looked like "Abbot and Costello play the tree rat".

Simply Immortal deuced me for the effort, on Saturday I shot two more and they skinned out just fine.

Tick this mightiness speed up thing for ya. I use to work for a taxidermist and we used water to get the deer ears released without tearing the skin. Congrats along your hunt club, may you have numerous more.

Apparently the skin along our grays here in the southeast is like Kevlar so I enjoyment a rattling slightly altered version of the "stair on the as" technique shown here:

The problem I ran into was the sputte would not tear and I was literally ripping squirrels in half. So all I had to do was separate the skin around the belly and undercut it. It's still rather quick. I don't think I'd have the patience to do it your way but thanks for showing it. It's good to see some different techniques.

The opposite affair I manage is soak them in a pail of weewe beforehand to keep the hair off the meat.

It's easier to field dress a cervid than it is to bark a squirrel. I have also time-tested the tail method but haven't been very good at information technology. Putting the squirrel in a bucket of low temperature water for about 20-30 minutes also helps keep up the fur from getting on the meat.

Has anyone tried the apply of an air compressor to help severalize the hide from the sum? Here's a video:

Does it solve as worthy every bit they say it does?

The just thing I can add to the picture is the remotion of the glands in the �armpits� [front legs]. There is a gland in each front leg pit that is spongy and sunburn in color. If removed, I recover the meat has a better flavor.

Hey Jeremy! First and foremost, thank you for sharing your method of cleanup your squirrels. I used to clean my squirrels the same way of life as you but ended the years I migrated to the tail stepping method.

Thanks for the tips, along the glands, guys. I thought that was just nut-flavored fat.

I feel like a battery-acid when I skin them with my bare work force. I got better at the tail-stepping method, but information technology's still nowhere near 100% for ME. Sometimes, I puzzle over everything right, and the tail just rips off of the enshroud, then it's twice equally hard as my method acting, because the "handle" is kaput.

There's a trick that I didn't mention regarding the poop chute: when you pull the "pants" off, and the poop chute pulls part-way out, what you tooshie DO is cut it hospitable of far out that end. Then, when you have the squirrel acceptant, cut the inside part of IT (with any terds toward the back of the squirrel) and pull information technology through with from the internal. Most of the terds bequeath get squeezed out past the butt of the squirrel, with a couple left hand in the poop chute in your hand. There's a lot of terds in their brown line; they mustiness be pooping every 5 minutes, like rabbits fare.

Beat Pine Tree State thereto. I've done the air skinning matter, even used water blackmail when a compressor wasn't open. but theres a caution.
1-Better for head shot animals
2-You need to stop the send/water from escaping through the shot hole for it to thrive all around the animal & separate the skin from meat to a greater extent with efficiency & effectively. Thats wherefore head shot ones are improve, sportsmanlike tie a tight line about the neck & fill information technology up.
